Do the Wolves offer girls and boys basketball? 

The Wolves is one of the largest AAU programs in the state of Iowa. The Wolves is the only program of its size that focuses and specializes in the development of girls’ basketball. The Wolves do not offer a boys program.  

 

How long is the Wolves basketball season?

The Wolves 3rd – 8th grade has a spring/summer season (April – July) and a fall/winter season (October – February). 

The Wolves high school plays spring/summer season (April – August).

 

How many practices a week are offered with the Wolves program? 

Two practice days are offered per week. Practice times range from an hour and a half to two hours long. 

 

How many tournaments are offered with the Wolves program fee? 

3rd – 6th grade is guaranteed to be offered 8 tournaments. 

7th – 8th grade is guaranteed to be offered 10 tournaments. 

High School is guaranteed a minimum of 11 tournaments. 

 

Do the Wolves offer a discount if you have more than one daughter in the program? 

Yes. If you have 2 children in the program you will receive 10% off your second child. If you have 3 children in the program you will receive 10% off your second child and 15% off your third child. If you have 4 children in the program please contact the Director for discount information. 

 

Are Wolves practices mandatory? 

Wolves practices are not mandatory however it is highly encouraged the girls attend the majority of the practices and at minimum, one practice a week. 

 

Do the Wolves only practice in Des Moines, IA? 

The Wolves do offer skills and practice at academies all over the state. Please contact us to find the location near you. 

 

Can my daughter attend a practice outside of their scheduled time? 

Yes. The Wolves have an open practice policy. Your daughter will be assigned a specific practice time. However, if necessary she may drop in during another practice time.

 

Will a parent of one of my daughters’ teammates be the head coach of the team? 

No. The Wolves have a hired, dedicated coaching staff. 

 

Is there one coach per team and only those girls practice together? 

No. The Wolves coaching staff does rotate coaching assignments over the course of the season to help with player development and evaluations. Also, all practices are divided up by grade and the practice is focused on group settings, not individual team settings. This provides opportunities for players to compete against high level talent in practice.

 

Is playing time divided equally amongst players on each team?

No. Playing time is not divided equally or guaranteed, but we work hard to put all our athletes in situations to be pushed and excel on the court.
